SepticSmart Week 2024

Through a series of emails and social posts, YOWA participated enthusiastically in the U.S. EPA’s nationwide SepticSmart Week activities September 16-20.  Using a focus on the importance of proper maintenance of an onsite system, YOWA sent out two email messages and created ten posts on its LinkedIn page. These all spoke about how our members should work with their residents and customers to provide education about the importance of protecting the environment and public health by properly caring for onsite wastewater systems of all types.

“All of New England benefits from such beautiful water bodies, both inland and along the coast, and we want to help restore them where needed and keep them in good condition through proper management of onsite wastewater systems,” said YOWA President Jim Healy.  “Our members are regulators, service providers and business owners who all can help work with their constituents to keep onsite systems properly functioning.  It is important we share this message with our members and the residents of our region,” he said.

The U.S. EPA requested a blast email be sent out on the Monday of SepticSmart Week, which was accomplished along with a preliminary message the week before so YOWA members would be reminded of the need to plan for activities during SepticSmart Week.

If you’d like to help get our 2025 SepticSmart Week activities organized please contact YOWA via email.
