YOWA Supports Funding of USDA Decentralized Water Systems Grant program

NOWRA and many of its affiliate, including YOWA, signed on to a letter urging Congress to find this program at its full $20 million per year level.

As you know the Yankee Onsite Wastewater Association (YOWA) is a state affiliate of NOWRA, the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association. One of NOWRA’s primary functions is to lobby at the national level on behalf of the onsite wastewater industry. For many years the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has funded a program named the Decentralized Water Systems Grant program. This program is authorized by Congress to fund up to $20 million dollars a year in grants of up to $15,000 per property to low- and moderate-income households in rural areas for maintaining residential water systems, including septic systems. For the past two years the program has been funded at $5 million per year.   NOWRA and many of its affiliate, including YOWA, signed on to a letter urging Congress to find this program at its full $20 million per year level.

Your membership in YOWA, and by way of YOWA in NOWRA, can make a difference!  Click here to view the letter submitted to Congress.
